151: family day at school

Family lunch day at Tony Tobin. I don't think it could have been any hotter out there! I was not the wise one..I did not bring an umbrella and I paid for it with a lovely farmers tan!

150: happy early birthday jayden

How do you control 17 9&10 years olds at a birthday party? Rent the game truck!!
Jayden has a summer birthday! The problem with a summer party is, you don't see the kids from your class everyday and you lose contact. Plus, everyone has different vacation schedules. So this year, we decided to have Jayden's party early! I figured all the kids are here because school hasn't gotten out yet. Plus, they're pretty much done with homework.
Jayden wanted the game truck, so the game truck it was! It was pretty awesome. This truck rolled around the street corner and the kids went crazy. It had 4 large screen t.v.'s with xboxes, wii's, and playstations. There were tons of games to choose from. They sat on the comfy couches for 2 hours and played games. Every so often I'd have someone come out and grab something to eat or drink, but they quickly went back in.  I did nothing..well, nothing besides the food! It was easy and Jayden had the time of his life!
Happy early 10th birthday!!

149: wii are going a little crazy here!

There are so many more photos that could have better described this day, but they were never taken!  I've been running around like mad being a property manager.  Our renters that we've had for 4 years, have to move to Missouri. We have been so blessed! No drama. No scary stories.  No delinquent rent. Really..it's been perfect. Now we need to try and find equally great renters. I've had so much interest in it that it won't take long at all to rent it, but it's a lot of busy work.
*The picture I did take is of the goodie bags I'm making for Jayden's early birthday party.  They are Wii controller white chocolate bars. Needless to say, this week has been madness and it's only Tuesday!

148: memorial day party

Memorial day was gorgeous so we had an impromptu party. We just called a few people to come over for a bbq and swimming. It was perfect, just lounging and doing nothing! And what's a party without s'mores?

147: boys campout

We didn't go anywhere for Memorial Day, so we made our own destination in the backyard. Jim and the boys decided to set up the tent and have a boys campout..no girls allowed. I went out to check it out and next thing I know, I'm asleep and Jim is taking pictures of me. It was quiet and warm..quite conducive to a good Sunday nap!

146: fun-filled day of activity

Saturdays are always busy around here. Today, our neighbors across the street took the boys on a beautiful 8 mile hike. The same boy who complained the whole way up Diamond Head saying that his legs were out of battery, managed to do an 8 miler without a single complaint! That's probably because his parents weren't there and he doesn't want to waste his naugtiness on just anyone!
I was stuck in San Diego all day with Skyler.  He has decided to go back to soccer {which I'm secretly much more happy about than football}. This tournament was a last minute thing, but with 2 games, it took all day! Jim stayed home and got some much need yard work done!

145: furlough day

Furlough day here in bankrupt California!{a day they make teachers take off without pay} That's o.k., it made it a 4 day weekend for us. We decided to head over to Knott's Berry Farm with the Rheads for the day.

144: the life of low carb

I've been feeling a little blah lately so I decided to try what Jim's been doing..low carbs. I'm the last person in the entire world that thought I could follow through with this. I love my sourdough toast and cereal in the morning.  I think I miss that more than candy! These are just a few samplings of things I've been eating. It's terribly boring and plain, but I'm finding ways to liven it up. It's not a lot of fun, but I'm looking forward to my first cheat day! Watch out world..they'll be no stopping me!

{6 days you eat no sugar, no fruit, no dairy, no rice, no pasta, no breads..a lot of NO's! But 1 day, you get a cheat day and you can eat whatever you want and however much you'd like. There's a science to this! Cheat day is like Christmas morning to a kid..INCREDIBLE..with no guilt}

I've been a little consumed with making photo books this past week {I made 3}, hence why I'm behind on the blog! I received a voucher for a free 8x8 book and then I found another free coupon code!  I'm a sucker for free {even though you paid $7.99 in shipping}. Just finished my 3rd free book. Love it!

141: early birthday

Jayden's birthday isn't actually until July 23rd but he's our one kid that always get jipped in the party department! So this year, I decided that I was going to have his party before school got out and everyone went on vacation. I kinda threw this together in an afternoon. Then the next day, when Jayden passed them out at school, I got a call from a mom telling me it wasn't modified day next week! WHAT?! For the love..luckily, I was able to call the game truck and push the party back a couple hours. I created a new invitation and all was good!

140: total eclipse of the heart

Big night at the Geddies! Jim is into everything science. He couldn't wait for the solar eclipse.  He even created an eclipse scope to see the different stages of the eclipse. Not sure if tanning glasses protected our eyes properly, but they worked. After it was all done, I looked over to Jayden and he was crying. "What happened this time", I thought. With Jayden, anything is possible. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "I'm not going to be able to see another solar eclipse for 59 years..and dad probably will never see one again cuz he'll be dead." My Jayden is very sentimental..it goes along with his hoarding and his very sensitive nature.  He is a sweet boy..Jim tried to explain to him not to be sad, that there were many cooler things to look forward to in life!

This is absolutely ridiculous!!

138: date night

Date night..and I even had to get a babysitter this time! {skyler was in Laguna with friends for the weekend}. The Moody's, Trevino's, and us went to go see Battleship. Fun movie. Afterwards, yogurt island!

137: mattress shopping

We have needed a new mattress for a few years now. Since Jim broke his back 5 years ago, he has been very particular. Basically, the floor isn't even hard enough for him. We went and tried out the sleep number bed..I was not impressed at all! Then today, we just bit the bullet! I'm a little scared. Usually when you sit on a bed there is a little bounce! Not on the one we got. We got the firmest one in the store. Jim loves it..I'm not convinced yet. Glad we have a 60 day guarantee!

136: california days

I volunteered for the 4th grade California Days today! The students were put into different groups and did activities that went along with the gold rush and early california history. Jayden didn't appreciate me taking pictures of him square dancing, but when do I seek approval when it comes to pictures?

135: will it ever end?

Laundry is my life! I have no idea how we have so much in just a few short days! It multiplies in the basket. Today was the day to get caught up! I had 4 baskets worth on my bed..and to the side, all the bedding. I flipped on the t.v. and made quick work of my mounds!
I didn't realize that my calling as compassionate service leader branched out to the Pasadena ward. Every month I get a friendly little email from my sister asking me to create a poster and flier for whatever activity they are having that month. This is it for this month..the easiest and least involved yet!

134: book making bonaza

I'm a little obsessed with making these photo books lately. They are actually quite easy to make..but like scrapbooking, I want to put my own spin on things so I don't use the standard option where it just makes the pages for you. I've done a book of Nauvoo, Hawaii, and of our roadtrip to Denver.  Yes..this book idea is not new. But I am embracing it now that I don't really do much of my paper and scissor scrapbooking anymore. I like digital!
You can get a free 8x8 shutterfly book too if you google: free 8x8 shutterfly book from Ellen.  It will direct you to shutterfly and put the coupon in your account. If you don't have an account, sign up!  The only thing, this offers expires soon..you must complete and order the book by May 29th!!

133: happy mother's day

The 3 reasons that make this day so special!! I love these guys!

When we got home late last night, I found this waiting for me on the kitchen table! "Have a bubbly day..love your sons!"  Jim didn't have anything to do with it.  Jayden found a bubble wand upstairs and just decided to give it to me for mother's day! Maybe I am doing something right!!

132: mormon prom

Jim and I were chaperones at the Mormon Prom. Can I just say that the home in which this event took place is just indescribable! I've never seen a bigger home, gymnasium, in my life! It was just so much to process..I mean craziness. This home had it's own lake and if you didn't feel like swimming or kayaking in the lake, you could use the large indoor pool in the gymnasium wing! Say you want to take a jog..oh, they have a custom built track..not to mention the deluxe tree house with a massive sound system. The thing is, the owners were incredibly humble and generous and loved sharing it with the youth!
Not the best pictures..it was getting dark, but an idea of how insane this home was!
Oh no..this isn't the house, this is only the gymnasium/recreation center of the house. To the left is the basketball court..on the right upstairs is the workout room/gym and below it is a huge kitchen, resort sized bathrooms, and the indoor pool. You've got to laugh when it has a drinking fountain  as if you were at the gym or sports court! I just wanted to do the zip line or go down the tube water slides.

131: safari park

Fathers & sons' started early today! Jim was one of the chaperones on Ryder's field trip to the Wild Animal Park. Ryder loved having his dad pal around with him..it's the simple things in life that make the greatest impact! That night was the father and sons campout and having 3 boys, a great night off for me!
This is day 3 bruising..looks worse than it's feeling!

130: chicago

I had to get out of the house today..I couldn't be cooped up anymore! So of course it's go big or go home! I was out of the house by 8:15 a.m. and didn't get home till 11:30 p.m.
I started the day off at the Stake Relief Society day at the temple. I figured I could be still in the temple {even if sitting was a little uncomfortable}. Knowing that we had a show to go to that night, I decided to just hang out in San Diego for the afternoon. I probably pushed it a little too much with a trip to IKEA and West Elm..and then more sitting! Christie Brinkley was the lead role..she did pretty good, luckily she didn't have too many strong singing parts because she had a weaker voice than the other characters. Overall, a good day!

129: bedrest & bruises

I was told to be very still for a few days! Anyone who knows me knows that it's not in my nature to be very still. Bed rest just about killed me! Why is it that when I'm so busy and rushing through life all I want is to have a day that I can do nothing..then, when the day comes that I'm suppose to do nothing, I can't stand it and want to be doing something!
Comes down to the same thing: we always want what we can't have!!
{It was even more difficult being restricted to the house today because my house cleaners were here..I felt so guilty just laying around watching them clean..even though it felt nice to be laying in a clean house!}

128: under the knife!

I went under the knife today to have a very resistant and stubborn mole removed. This will be the 3rd time they've taken out this particular mole..it just keeps growing back. You can see in the above picture where the mole grew right on the scar. Then in the bottom picture, you see my skin, with the mole and scar, in the jar ready to be sent to pathology! This time around it was painful!! The litocain shots were murder..I let out some screams. I was given the option to be put out for this but I didn't want to burden Jim to take a day off work..what was I thinking! I rather have not felt what I felt or smelt my burning skin.  Let's just hope they got it all this time and that the pathology report comes back clean!

127: our garden

For family night tonight we planted our garden! I'm totally loving the colored tomato cages{we also have light blue and a purplish color}..they might cost a couple bucks more, but they add such a fun color to the garden!

126: jim's creations

While I was away for the weekend, Jim kept very busy with his top secret mission. He dug out the ground and built this long garden box for me for Mother's Day..mind you he was fighting a nasty bug and was practically on deaths door. This is how much he loves me! He wanted it to be a surprise and this would be his only opportunity! I appreciate and love it even more knowing that. Honestly..I love this more than any piece of jewelry or any other thing he could have bought me!! He listened to me and my desire to have a garden, even if it was little, and took it upon himself to deliver. Happy Mother's Day to me..thank you Jim..I love you!
