Day 181

Our friends the Evans' were in town visiting from Texas {they use to live in the Temecula Ward with us} so we threw together a very impromptu BBQ/pool party with some of our friends. Amazingly enough, all but 2 families were in town! Who knew our pool could hold 65 people?  It was great chatting with friends we don't see as often as we'd like!  {their youngest, Sam, even lost his first tooth!}

Day 180

My friend Jenniffer came into town and we couldn't miss an opportunity to go to Rubios. Apparently they don't have them in Reno where she lives!  We had a great weekend with the Rheads..thanks for staying with us!!

If this doesn't ooze romance on our Friday date night, I don't know what does! Not only this, but we even stopped at Yogurt Island for dinner.  Does it get any better?

Day 176

Crazy day today!  First, Farah Fawcett dies then Michael Jackson.  One was expected, the other, not so much!  (so much for any regular t.v. watching tonight, tomorrow, or even the next day!)

Day 175

Do you remember in the old days what a tedious job it was to fill a water ballon?  You could never get the top stretched out enough and then it would rip once you finally got it on the nozzle! I just can't believe they never came up with this device any earlier!!  I filled a whole ice chest{about 200 balloons} in about 20 minutes!

Day 174

Today was our first official beach day of summer!!  Yay!  Our ward has a beach day each week and about 15 families showed up this week!  The kids all had someone to play with and didn't really bother me at all..it was a glorious day!  I see many more beach days in our future!

Day 173

It's summertime...that means all the pushy sales people are out in full force!  We got sucked into buying the Living Scriptures videos years ago, we would not be pushed into thousands of dollars worth of freeze-dried food storage. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for food storage.  This stuff wasn't half bad, but I just couldn't see forking out $2,5oo for a few months.  Don't worry friends, we didn't give out any phone numbers!

Day 171

I felt like I was hemmoraging money all day today getting ready for Father's day!  My purse was filled with nothing but receipts!! (Albertson's, Costco, Michaels, Lowe's, Home Goods, Rubios,J.C. Penny's...)

Day 170

My niece Hanel stayed with us for a week...the boys loved having their cousin around. Friday night we had our ward picnic in the park and someone brought this cool dune buggy and gave rides the entire night! The kids were in heaven!

Day 169

Our backyard wasn't finished in time for me to plant a real garden, so I used a couple planter pots and planted some tomatoes and an herb garden.  It always amazes me when I see little plants popping out of the soil. Those tiny seeds actually do grow into something with a little water and sun!   {I bought the basil, chives, and rosemary as a plant...the flat leaf parsley and cilantro were seeds!}

Day 168

It was my day to volunteer at cub scout camp {how excited was I that it was only in the low 80's!}!  Skyler looked more like a mad scientist than a gun shooting webelo!  Shooting and archery were among his favorites.  The sling shot was a close 3rd!  Fun, fun fun...

Day 166

First day of summer!  Ryder started swim lessons this morning, we signed up for summer reading at the library, went out for doughnuts, and picked up a couple of friends for the day...all before 10:30!

So what do you do on a girls' weekend?  LOUNGE, EAT, and READ! We are so informed and updated on the current state of celebrity affairs! {this is what I mean by reading}

 After Skyler's soccer tournament, Jim took the boys to an Angels game! (and even allowed someone to take a picture) What a great dad!

Day 163

Last day of school...last flag salute...Skyler was called up for being on honor roll.  Best part about that:  he got a coupon for a FREE haircut {exactly what he needs!}

This was the busiest day ever!!  I was at the kids school from 9:30-2:00, then rushed to pick up Ryder from a friends house and get to a primary activity that I had to run a station at, then hurried home to get the kids changed for Skyler's piano recital!  Why must everything be squeezed into the last few days of school?

Day 155

This was my first time, in my over 5 years of classroom volunteering that I made it to the "thank-you" breakfast!  It was very sweet and a better breakfast than I would have normally eaten.

I looked out my window and what did I see, a freakish June thunder, lighting, and hail storm coming down on me!! {actually it was quite exciting and who doesn't love the smell of fresh rain when it's warm outside!}

Dygger, our gender confused turtle, is enjoying some new freedom in the backyard!
