90: animal farm

 Randomness for the day..chicken on the beach..only in Hawaii!

One of the favorite nighttime activities was going gecko hunting. Unfortunately, the geckos never made it through the night in their little make shift cages..the cats got to them..all that was left were gecko guts.

89: a history trip to pearl harbor

We decided to take a little trip to Pearl Harbor today..mostly because the boys got so sunburned on our first day and needed a little break from the beach. In my 3 1/2 years of living on Oahu, I had only been here once. I'm still quite amazed at the large amounts of Japanese tourists that visit the memorial. It's kinda weird seeing as it was their country that bombed us and created this devastation. I guess we can chalk it up to history and curiosity.

88: laie..here we come!

 Of all the beaches in Oahu..Hukilau was one of the boys'  favorites{I think because it was basically across the street and easily accessible}. I never went there when I was a student but the boys loved the waves. Rebecca got to tag along with us a lot during our trip because she's being homeschooled this year. Her and Skyler were like 2 peas in a pod!
 Is it any wonder that 2 of the 3 boys ended up with ear infections by the end of our trip! They would be in the water for hours everyday!
Jayden preferred stepping back and drawing.
 This local had just been out and caught 5 octopus with his spear gun. Again..the boys were in heaven.
It still stands..the A-Frame..my home for 2 of my years at BYU-H. Such incredible memories were made here!

87: we're off on our family adventure

We had the whole row to ourselves..and dad got the aisle seat. Notice Jayden was the only one to read the safety instructions. He's just a very obedient kid.

The world of technology.
One can't go on a trip without: iphone, ipad, 3 ipod touches, video camera, regular camera, underwater camera, and all the cords, chargers, and junk that goes with them.
{this doesn't even include all Jim's stuff}

83: boy scouts & blisters

A young man in our ward was holding a fundraiser to earn money for his Eagle Scout project. He enlisted a bunch of youth to go and do yard work.  We put them to work tearing out the ugly ground cover in front of our house! Don't know what we're going to replace it with, but at least the resort for all things spiders is gone!
Believe it or not, I, Dyana, got up at went running at 6:30 a.m. I was with about 7 other friends. Ragnar training has been in full force and we were going to do 6 1/2 miles today. We hit a dirt trail and I felt a rock get in my shoe.  I couldn't be bothered with a pebble so I ignored it..until I couldn't ignore it any longer {about 1.5 miles) I pulled over, got the rock out, but the damage was already done. It was seriously uncomfortable running the remaining 3 miles on this blister, but I did it! Moral of the story..don't let rocks fester..get them out immediately..a little like a sin analogy!!

82: wanted..for indecent exposure

Our wards' boy scout troop had their big fundraiser tonight. This sign was hanging in the entrance..at least they had the good sense to crop off the speedo. :)

81: institute

Thursday is probably my most favorite day of the week. I go to an institute class {church class}. This years course of study is the Old Testament..a book of scriptures that I have long been intimidated of. Every week our instructor brings the Old Testament to life! She explains it in such a brilliant way, that makes my inferior mind retain the knowledge! It makes learning so interesting and fun. So yes..the Old Testament can be fun!  This picture is of an outline of the stories and books in the Old Testament.

80: reality people!

This day was loooong overdue! Our boys' toenails looked like talons. Seriously..I think they could probably catch small animals with them if they tried. Jim took out the big guns and went to work. I don't know what it is..but I can't stand unkept toes!

79: shopping

I'm just not very good at surprising my husband with clothes anymore. I will like something and get it for him, just to find it months later in his closet still with tags on it.  That is why I'm so grateful for cell phones. I was out today and saw a couple shirts Jim might like. Rather than making the decision on my own {and inevitably choosing wrong}, I took pictures and instantly texted them to him. Within 1 minute, I knew which one he liked, what size, and I was out the door! Days like today..I really love technology!

78: videographer

I took the day off from the gym, from just about everything. I told Jim, as he left for work, "you know all the things I do when you're at work?  I'm not going to do them today!" Instead, I finished the 2nd book of the Hunger Games series, "Catching Fire" and worked on editing videos for my friends from our trapezing school. I'm not very good at idleness..but I'm not going to lie..I loved it today!

76: flying in the air with the greatest of ease...kinda!

So before I left for Trapeze school, I made my family rainbow waffles for St. Patrick's Day!
{me..amberly with baby analea..kristen..jen..sue..chelsea..trainer who was just incredible..this little waif of a girl catches grown men in the air}

I got a last minute invitation to go to trapeze school today! Yes..this has been a secret dream of mine but I never believed they had such a thing for just regular, non-circus people! Oh...but they do, and it was incredible! Sadly, I don't have very many still shots, mostly video.
It was absolutely a rush to swing in the air, hang upside down, and do backflips.  I was a little disappointed with myself because I did not master the catch and release {swinging with your knees on the bar and someone on the other side telling you to release and catching you..it all came down to timing and following directions..2 things I'm apparently not that great at!} I so plan on going back! Not going to lie though..my "trapezius" muscles are a little sore today, but not nearly as bad as I thought they would be.

A little video clip of one of my freshly learned tricks!

75: ipad 3

Jim was up quite early this morning. In fact, I don't really think he slept much at all. He was too excited about the debut of the new ipad 3. He had already sold his ipad 2 and with cash in his pocket he headed down to what he thought would be long lines. He got to Best Buy and was the first person there! They gave him this "golden ticket" and said to come back when they opened and he would have his ipad 3 reserved and waiting for him. It looks exactly the same, but he assures me it's much faster and has internal improvements! When did he become such a techy?

74: ryder's talent show debut

The talent show was tonight! Ryder was part of an ensemble that did a little dance to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal". He loved it and had such a great time! He's the ham of the family and definitely likes the spotlight! I'll try to post a video soon.

72: had a great run

Didn't really want to go running this morning, but I forced myself out the door. Believe it or not, this was one of my best runs! 4 miles at almost a 9 minute mile. I guess I wanted it to be over quicker so I ran fast!

Daylight savings..time to spring forward!
{with 9:00a.m. church..it was a very tough day!}

69: school carnival

The annual Tony Tobin Elementary School spring carnival. Junk food, hair painting, rock wall, merry go round, booths with throwaway prizes, and gift basket raffles that we never ever seem to win! I have 4 more years of these to go!
{Jayden informed me that he had 10 of these cotton candies..like mother, like son!}

68: i love to see the temple

I met up with Jim this afternoon to do an earlier session. I took this picture from my car and used this great new app {awesomizer} to edit it. It just amazes me what phones can do these days! I find myself using my camera less and less.

67: an official teenager in the house

Skyler turned 13 today! A teenager! For months he's been complaining that he's the "ONLY" person who doesn't have a cell phone at his school! I can't emphasize ONLY enough. Jim and I decided that it was probably time. We went and got him one..and NO, it's not a smartphone! Not under my roof will my child have a data plan and internet access at anytime or place!! I wrapped it up and when it came time for him to open it, we secretly called the number.  All of a sudden it dawned on him that the ringing was coming from the bag and he knew immediately what it was! He was so excited! I just can't believe how quickly 13 years have gone. If you were to ask me this 5 years ago, it wasn't quick enough, but now, I want time to SLOW DOWN!! We went through his baby book this morning and it brought back so many great memories! It's been a pretty fun ride!

66: arise and shine forth

We had our Young Women's New Beginning's tonight. The 2012 mutual theme is:  Arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard for the nations {D&C 115:5} So for our handout, we gave them these little lanterns and I tied on the cute quote with the theme on it. I tied 45..but it warms my heart because I had one of my old laurels, who is now in college, facebook me when I posted this picture, telling me that she still has all her handouts I made for her. When I hear that, it's sooo worth the work!

65: look who has inherited my eyes

I took Jayden to the eye doctor back in September. He said that his eyes weren't perfect, but not terrible either. He wrote us a prescription for glasses and because we were in a hurry {because the appointment took so long}, we never got the glasses. Fast forward 6 months and while cleaning my car, I found the prescription in my center console. So off we went to find some glasses. Jayden is as indecisive as me, but he finally narrowed his selection down. These are the frames he went with. I think he looks very handsome and smart! He's actually very excited to get them. I was actually excited because I guess our eye insurance pays for his glasses. Up until 6 months ago, I didn't even know we had eye insurance!

64: more computer work

Woke up with a bad sore throat and an earache so I was homebound today. My opportunity to finish my advertising homework. Finished creating the tickets for the boy scout fundraiser. This will have to do for my potd, because it's really all I did! {actually the boys' got much needed haircuts..but I forgot to take a picture}

63: last day

Our cozy little bungalow..the blue house! The bird of paradise is getting a little out of control, but we Jim picked some weeds and washed down the months of dust.

Oh yes I did..finished the book in about a day! I just knew that I needed to do it while on vacation because I have a hard time just sitting and gratuitously reading a book. It just feels a little too indulgent to just sit my day away when I'm at home and read, especially when there is so much to do!

62: sunny beach, freezing water

 Another beautiful day on the island. Sunny and in the low 80's. The sun was out in full force, but the water was so cold it hurt my stomach to put my toes in it. That didn't stop the boys. Only Bryce had a wetsuit, but he assured us it was still freezing. They wanted to go snorkeling and they did. They sounded like little school girls through their snorkels every time they saw a fish. It was comical. Besides the glass bottom boats, they had lover's cove to themselves.
Another thing we love to do while lazily sitting, doing very little, is to eat {ice cream, in particular} but this time french fries for Jayden and popcorn for me. The mangy and very brazen  seagulls got into my beach bag and stole my bag of popcorn. It took the bird forever to figure out how to get it out. For me, it was entertainment..next to the new book I started.
